The City of Houston offers over 300 miles interconnected bikeway network spanning across 500 square miles. The network includes bike lanes, bike routes, signed-shared lanes and shared-use paths, commonly referred to as ‘hike and bike’ trails, which includes rails to trails, and other urban multi-use paths. In addition to these bicyclist transportation facilities, there are over 80 miles of hike and bike and nature trails found in City of Houston parks. In addition, Harris County and many municipal utility districts have constructed over 160 miles of bikeways within the City limits.
New Shared Lane DesignationNew Shared Lane designation along Antoine and Navigation The City of Houston continues to expand the bikeway network through
the construction of both on and off street bikeways. While many bicyclists are
anxiously awaiting the completion of the trail extension along White Oak Bayou,
there is also an on-street component to accompany the off-street facility. The
pavement markings along Antoine are being revised to provide a 14 foot-wide
outside lane. We're also adding the shared-lane pavement markings, known as
'sharrows', and Share the Road signage, to designate another segment of the
roadway as an on-street bikeway.

White Oak Bayou ExtensionWhite Oak Bayou Extension: once a dream, quickly becoming
reality
Local resident and Board member of Bike Houston, Matt Wurth (owner of I-Cycles), continues to monitor the progress of the construction of the extension of the White Oak Bayou trail: "The new bike path on White Oak Bayou is going to AWESOME!! Straight from my house to my shop! This is a dream come true!" Many people feel this way as well. We'll keep you up to date on the construction, we're hoping that we can host a ribbon cutting event this Fall and open this new bikeway to the masses. Until then - ride safe and enjoy the great weather!
